Attractions

Most visitors to the area come to enjoy the recreational pursuits of walking the Lomonds and cycling around Fife's many cycleways. 

For an adrenaline rush with a difference check out the Scottish Off Road Driving Centre. Offering one of the most challenging off-road driving experiences in Scotland, Glentarkie Estate's purpose built 100-acre site, runs recreational and professional courses.  Off-roading  Balvaird Castle 
Not far from Gateside lies Balvaird Castle, a 15th century tower managed by Historic Scotland, which can be viewed from the outside.

Eating and drinking

The Gateside Inn, home to great food and a warm welcomeAndy & Heather at the Strath Tavern provide bar meals and high teas, as well as ales of course! The Gateside Inn also has an enviable reputation for its quality food and offers an A la carte, Sunday roast and bar menu - something for all budgets.

Shops & Services

Gateside Mills

During the 19th century the Gateside Mills produced wooden bobbins and shuttles for weaving factories. Today these mills produce clothing, furniture and turned wood components. Those looking for unique gifts should not miss the chance to drive in and check out what's on offer in this centre of creativity & design, including:

Hoggs of Fife, now trading as Fife Country, was traditionally a footwear mail order specialist and is credited by locals for raising the profile of Strathmiglo throughout the UK. Hoggs no longer make boots in the village but they still have a shop on the High St where you can still buy quality footwear & clothing.

David Sands Strathmiglo sells newspaper and grocery provisions whilst Strathmiglo Post office offers postal services and confectionary.

The nearest cash points are Bank of Scotland, Falkland and Bank of Scotland, Auchtermuchty.

Transport

If you're planning to travel in the Howe using public transport Traveline makes it easy.Travelline Scotland 

By car: Gateside and Strathmiglo are both most easily reached by road (on the A91 going towards St Andrews). Muchty taxis or Falkland Taxis can help you get there.

By Bus: Stagecoach operates several local bus services to and from Strathmiglo & Gateside from Glenrothes,  Cupar, Perth and further afield. For timetable info call Travel Line on 0871 200 22 33.

Sadly there are no longer public toilets on Strath's main thoroughfare. Those desperately in need should try the Strath Tavern or Gateside Inn.
