  2. Firewalk-Strathmiglo

    A Firewalk is being led by Ellie Douglas, at Westbank Natural Health Centre, Strathmiglo, on the Celtic New Year's Day : 1st November. Enjoy this rare opportunity to visualise and manifest your dreams for the year ahead in an exceptionally powerful way...The ceremony starts at 6.30pm thru' till about 11pm.   3. Early Learning Concert, Strathmiglo - CANCELLED

    Alan Small's excellent Early Learning Ceilidh Band will entertain, compered by Pitlochry's well-known entertainer Eddie Rose. Tickets on sale later this month.   4. Restaurant at the End of the World

    Pillars of Hercules occasional restaurant is opening again on Friday nights. Tonight delicious seasonal food will be produced by local chef Christopher Trotter. It's the best of vegetarian food (plus carnivorous option), all organic of course, served up in a congenial atmosphere with live jazz music. Set price menu is £28 per person (£30 for carnivores). 3 courses & coffee. We do not have a table licence but feel free to bring your own alcoholic drinks (no corkage charge).   9. A better quality place to live - Transition in Falkland

    Buying what you need isn’t always what you want. Are there more satisfying ways to live more locally? In Falkland village hall on Tuesday 11 November at 7:30, there will be a meeting to start finding ways to improve our local quality of life. Contributors will be residents from the village and locally, who can explain what they have already done, and what could be done. This will include local examples of using crafts, trying to re-learn skills and crafts from our recent or grandparents generations, or networks for borrowing not buying, considering consumption, sharing transport or hardest of all – walking around a bit. This is part of the Transition Falkland programme, which has already attracted tens of people to meetings on local energy, and food. Now with extra people becoming involved , there will be more happening in December – watch out ! All events are free.

  17. Winter Warmers - Food Ethics Local and Global

    The first talk in Falkland Centre for Stewardship's Winter Warmers series to launch the One Planet Food Programme. Helen Browning – “Organic Food and Climate Change.” Helen Browning OBE is food and farming director at the Soil Association and an organic farmer in north Wiltshire, where she is best known for sausages and bacon from her happy pigs. She also chairs the Food Ethics Council and the Animal Health and Welfare Implementation Group for England. There will be a supper available from 6pm with talk commencing at 7pm.   18. Community Pub Night: The Travelling Transition Tavern

    The second Community Pub Night from the Travelling Transition Tavern will take place at Giffordtown Village Hall on 28th November from 8pm till midnight. This follows the success of the first night at Collessie Village Hall in October. Come along and sample the excellent local beer from Luckie Ales, Cairn O'Mhor Wines and much more.   20. Howe of Fife Rotary Club Ceilidh

    Members of the Rotary Club of the Howe of Fife look forward to welcoming visitors to their annual Christmas Ceilidh on Saturday 29 November, in Strathmiglo Village Hall. Doors open at 7.30pm.; tickets cost £10, which includes supper and dancing to the Bert Pozzi band. Tickets can be obtained either by contacting Club Service Chairman, Dennis Beattie, on 01337 840480, or at the venue on the night. All proceeds of the ceilidh will be added to the club's charity funds, for use in projects at home and abroad.
