Strathmiglo United 2-5 Kettle United

From Alistair Jack, Tuesday, 9th March, 2010

This Glendale league match was the proverbial game of two halves!

The hosts had the advantage of the first forty five but the second unquestionably belonged to the visitors when they hit five goals. Ford put Strath ahead from the penalty spot in the fifth minute.

Shortly afterwards Duncan saw his header come off the crosbar and Liam Baillie's effort hit the upright. Kettle had their moments too with Beveridge and B. Simpson coming close. Strath were awarded another penalty but Ford's kick hit the post. Just before half time the Strath number nine atoned for his miss when he scored a second.

The half time pep talk worked wonders for Kettle as they rocked Strath with three quick goals all coming from the head of Campbell with Morgan, Beveridge and Mitchell providing the assists. Strath's struggle to get back into things was not helped any as they lost the services of O'Leary and McIntosh. Both were seeing red after receiving second yellows.

Worse was to follow, substitute R.Clark limped off injured and the remaining eight players looked bewildered as Kettle made the most of the extra men advantage and Hamed scored a brace to give his side an emphatic victory and left the home touchline, pondering why Strath pressed the self destruct button in the second half.
