Pupils walk on the wild side
From Fife Herald,
Friday, 3rd July, 2009
Youngsters at Falkland Primary School have been taking a walk on the wild side! They earned certificates under the John Muir Award scheme, an environmental initiative that focuses on wild places.
Over the last school term, the primary five pupils gained the first John Muir Award by successfully completing four challenges. Activities included exploring animal habitats on Falkland Estate; preparing a powerpoint presentation on their chosen animal; clearing invasive species of rhododendrons and taking part in the Falkland Island linking project organised by Edinburgh Zoo.
The children shared their experiences with the rest of the school and their parents at a special assembly at which they received their certificates.
