Freuchie affordable housing project boost

From Fife Herald, Saturday, 6th February, 2010

Plans to build an affordable housing development in Freuchie have been given a major funding boost.

The project is one of seven across the Kingdom that will share in cash raised from the council tax charge on second homes. Members of Fife Council's policy, finance and asset management committee last Thursday approved an investment of £1.3 million, with £100,000 earmarked for the project in Broomfield Place, Freuchie.

Council leader Peter Grant commended "We are committed to continued investment to affordable housing for Fife and these projects are testament to that commitment."

"A further benefit of these projects is the cash flow that will benefit the local economy, house builders, contractors and sub-contractors in the construction sector."

"It's estimated that around 224 jobs could be created as a result of these contracts, great news for the Kingdom."
