Landbased Service Engineering students at Elmwood College are gearing up for an exciting exchange trip to France, this March, as part of the Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning Programme.

The students will undertake a two-week placement at the Adjoint du College in the town of Sainte-Menehould, which will be formally twinned with Cupar in April.
French engineering staff will teach them similar topics to those taught at Elmwood, but with a cultural twist. As part of their preparation for the exchange, the students will undergo some basic language and culture classes.

Elmwood tutor, Nigel Ford, said, "The Leonardo da Vinci Programme is a great way for our students to be exposed to and experience another culture first hand. It will also provide them with a unique chance to see how engineering operates in another country. I'm sure that they will develop personal friendships and hopefully do some business networking, which may lead to international employment opportunities in the future."

Part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme, the programme funds a wide range of actions, notably cross-border mobility initiatives; co-operation projects to develop and spread innovation; and thematic networks. The potential beneficiaries range from trainees in initial work-based training, to people already in employment. By helping European citizens to acquire new skills, knowledge and qualifications. The programme also aims to bolster the competitiveness of the European labour market.
