Dunshalt Primary School was sold this week to a private buyer, but residents are disputing the validity of the deal saying it's not Fife Council's to sell.
Dunshalt Community Association has written to Fife Council challenging it to prove it owns the Victorian building before missives are concluded.
Gordon Simpson, association Chair commented that many buildings of a similar age were gifted to the community by landowners for the use of local workers and adopted by the local authority by default. he believes it may still belong to the village and should be used for the benefit of local people e.g. as an arts centre or nursery. However Fife Council denies the authority acted out of turn saying the council had a clear title and could sell.
Century 21, the selling agents confirmed the sale was 'well in excess' of the asking price of £119,950.
