Calling Howe residents: please help save your local Scout group
From Fife Herald Feb 22 2008,
Monday, 25th February, 2008
People in the Howe are being urged to help save their local Scout groups. A public meeting is planned for Feb 28th, (in the Kingskettle Scout Hall, Kettlebridge at 7.30pm) to recruit leaders for rural areas where groups are under threat because of a shortage of adults. Groups in Ladybank and Falkland have already folded, the Kingskettle group is suspended and the Pitlessie Scouts and Cubs have temporarily joined forces with the group in Freuchie following the recent resignation of their leader.
The Scout Asociation believes its important for young people, especially those living rurally, to be offered an opportunity to participate in worthwhile and adventurous activities. More help is needed if Scouting is to be revived and developed to its full potential locally.
