Auchtermuchty slimmers gain pounds

From Fife Herald, Monday, 29th June, 2009

Members of Slimming World (Auchtermuchty) have walked (collectively) 40 miles and raised almost £300 for Slimming World's own charity SMILES (Slimmers Making It a Little Easier for Someone).

All of the money raised in Scotland will be used to ensure that Childline Scotland can answer even more calls from children who need their help. This walk is part of a national event called "40 Miles for SMILES" to celebrate Slimming World's 40th anniversary.

Members in the company's 6000 groups are being challenged to cover 40 miles in any way they like. SMILES' charity partner this year is NSPCC.

Slimming World consultant, Liz Slattery said "Since the Auchtermuchty group opened in March, we have had fantastic new members joining each week.

"Members quickly established a supportive and friendly environment and the Wednesday evening meetings are a welcoming place for newcomers. I am delighted with the way the group has developed and pleased that our average weekly weight loss of 1.3lb per person is consistently higher than the national average."

The Slimming World (Auchtermuchty) group meet on Wednesday evenings at the Auchtermuchty Church Hall. For more information contact Liz on 01337 828386.
