Letham Nights #3: Another Success!

From Michael Farrell, Thursday, 19th March, 2009

They came in numbers again, this time to hear the blues.

The Anthill Mob kicked off the evening with some storming numbers including classics like Mustang Sally and Jumpin' Jack Flash.  It wasn't long before people were filling the dance floor and joining in the choruses!  The band were given a rousing reception - including from the members of Wolftrain.

Wolftrain then took to the stage and slammed straight into their footstomping set which included great covers like "Born with the Blues" and "Mystery Train" as well as numbers penned by keyboard player and lead singer Robin: "Rock and Roll Highway", "Marianne" and the excellent "Heaven Somewhere".  The band proclaim that their horns give them their unique sound.  And they are not wrong.  As one member of the audience said, 'One saxophone is good, but two is phenomenal'!

In between their two sets, there was an impromptu collection for Comic Relief by some of the young people present raising £137 - announced just after the band had played "Hold To Your Money"!  Thanks to everyone for not holding on too tightly!

Thanks to both bands for contributing to such a great atmosphere. Thanks also to Fife Council for the Culture Grant that has allowed us to enhance the stage and ambient lighting in the Hall.
