The Scout Christmas Card deliveries ended on Tuesday, and although the final amount raised for Scout Group funds is not known at the time of going to print, it will be in excess of £250.00.

The Auchtermuchty Community Centre management committee would like to thank everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets for the coffee morning on December 11th.

The Rotary Cub of the Howe of Fife presented two awards at its annual Christmas party at the Village Inn, Pitlessie, on Tuesday.

In a survey of almost 500 FSB members whose businesses are based in rural areas, nearly 60 per cent said they were expecting their Christmas trade to be down on this time last year.

Community representatives from across Fife attended a civic reception in the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes to recognise their tremendous success this year in the Beautiful Scotland Awards and Britain in Bloom.

The project has been now offered funding, been used as a best-practice prototype and has seen Mike and his family - wife Karen and children Sorely (4) and Alex (1), splashed across local and national media for their innovative thinking when it comes to food.

The Rotary Club of the Howe of Fife recently handed over a cheque for £500 to six former Newburgh Primary School pupils. This will help them to participate in a trip to Italy in January, at the invitation of the Italian Star Association.

Christmas cards are being delivered round the village until Tuesday, 23rd December, at a cost of 15p per cards.

Update from the Fife Diet - an experiment with local food

Before we're into 2009, here's an update on Transition Falkland activities.

Falkland Community Council is looking to support an outdoor recreational facility for young people. One suggestion is that it could involve equipment and a shelter for use in the school playing field.

Thanks to parents, helpers and members, in fact everyone involved with the Christmas Fayre on Monday night, which raised a fantastic £309.15 for the club.

The village has been invited by the Royal Horticultural Society to compete in the prestigious 'Champion of Champions' category of Britain in Bloom for the next three years.

Fife Council is determined to make Fife a great place to live, work and visit. And local people can now see how well the council is succeeding in its aims as it has just published its first Annual Performance report since the new Council was elected in May 2007.

The Scout Group is again arranging for cards to be delivered round the village, Mr. and Mrs. Sanderson kindly agreeing to allow Freuchie Stores to be used as the collection point.

Church service and fundraising update
