Annsmuir seeks unrestricted residential use for all sites

From Fife Herald, Sunday, 12th October, 2008

Annsmuir Caravan Park near Ladybank wants unrestricted residential use for all its sites, saying the holiday touring market is no longer viable at that location.

Annsmuir Park Homes has lodged an application with Fife Council to improve and replace 108 mobile homes, infrastructure and landscaping in a redevelopment costing more than £4.5million.

The existing site licence caters for 41 residential mobile homes, 36 static holiday moile homes and 30 touring holiday mobile homes, but the applicant wants to remove the restriction to holiday use.

A supporting statement to the Council said no more than 20 touring caravans visited the site in the last year, the touring traffic more inclined to use coastal routes and bypass Annsmuir.

Applicants believed removing the holiday licence restrictions would have a positive effect on holiday use, making the property more attractive and convenient to the purchaser and freeing local housing stock for the local community.

The proposal would allow sites to be used for residential family and retirement use as well as family holiday accommodation and weekend holiday homes with all 108 mobile homes providing council tax revenue.

Fife Council have not yet considered the application.
