Another new fixture for the Scottish Disability Golf Partnership

From Jim Gales, Friday, 27th August, 2010

Newmacher Golf Club near Dyce in Aberdeenshire was the venue for the latest in a series of brand new golf courses to be played by Scottish Disability Golfers in their 2010 season.

Golfers and their coaches travelled to the course from across Scotland, and included players from as far-a-field as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Johnston and Fife, as well as several locally based players.

The group were also joined by one of their new sponsors. Gavin Fisher and his colleague Jim Taylor of, buyitf4golf.com, based in Peterculter near Aberdeen, who came along to Newmachar and provided each player and coach with SDGP embossed hats, golf gloves and tees for the day.

Steve Bramwell, the SDGP's Secretary said, "Most of Scotland had some horrendous weather that day, but we struck lucky and had no rain at all, indeed most of the day was in glorious sunshine. The

Professional Shop and Clubhouse staff made us very welcome and provided us with a smashing meal after the golf. A special thank you has to go to the Newmacher Club Council who allowed us to play over their course.

Both golf courses, the Swailend and the Hawkshill were in great condition and provided a great back drop for our visit."

"We now have several hundred people who regularly come along to our free training events and games each year.

"The next event for the SDGP is a free training session for anyone with a disability or serious health problem, who would like to give golf a go.

"That will be followed by our Scottish Open, where Buyit4golf.com will once again be supporting the SDGP in its organisation of the upcoming Scottish Pan-Disability Open Golf Championships at Scotscraig Golf Club.

"The event will run from Sunday 5 to Wednesday 8 September, where over thirty top disabled golfers will come to Scotland and play at the prestigious Scotscraig Golf Club".
