Education in Ladybank Online
Pre-school Education
Ladybank Ladybirds is a playgroup which meets once a week and offers pre-schoolers the opportunity for free-play and socialisation.
Whilst nursery education is not compulsory, it is usually available for any 4 year olds and for any 3 year olds whose parents wish a place. The catchment areas for Fife Council nurseries are based on postcodes, but parents may apply for a nursery place outwith their catchment area. Ladybank nursery has two classes and supports Edenstown, Giffordtown as well as being the designated nursery for the village of Letham.
See Scottish Childcare for more on local area childcare, events and activities.
Primary Education
Ladybank School was built in the 1890s and is a single storey, Victorian building. With 138 children in six classes and 38 in two nursery classes, the school serves the village of Ladybank along with the outlying hamlets of Edenstown and Giffordtown and several farms and isolated homes.
Ladybank School‘s main aim is to enable each child to achieve his or her potential through an appropriate curriculum, motivated staff, a caring, supportive ethos and strong partnership with parents. There is a very active PTA who organise successful fund raising social events throughout the school session and class reps meet with the Head Teacher on a regular basis to discuss issues and assist in the consultation process with the pupils. The school also hosts an Out of School Club.
Alternatively St Columba's RC Primary School serves the Catholic community of Cupar and the Howe.
