Congrats Ladybank Festive Week Winners!
From Marean Latto,
Sunday, 22nd June, 2008
This years' Ladybank Pageant week went very well and the weather was kind to us.
It was however touch and go as to whether the event would go ahead this year. Until approx 3 months ago there was a feeling that the pageant might be postponed due to the inclement weather last year and the lack of sheter should we have bad weather again this year. Then Mr Thomas Malcolm, of Premier Travel stepped in and saved the week with sponsoring the Marquee, and the Disco for the Saturday night Family evening.
On behalf of the Ladybank Festive Committee - thank you to Premier Travel. We look forward to your continued support next year.
The week started with a 5-Aside football competition on Wednesday followed by the annual pool competition on Friday. Congrats to Team Hayne, winners of the senior 5-aside competition; Jimmy Robertson winner of the Craig Lawson Memorial Trophy (Senior Pool), and Scott McKaywinner of the Ladybank festive Committee Pool Shield.
For the first time in approximately 20 years Ladybank Pageant Day had a King and Queen. Primary 7 pupils from Ladybank Primary School entered names into a draw and the lucky winners were Adam Simpson and Kirsten Olive. Adam and Kirsten did a grand job presenting prizes and doing their "duties". Well done guys.
The 'Howe of Fife Challenge Trophy' for the best float went to Ladybank Ladybirds, with Ladybank Primary and Ladybank Youth Club taking 2nd and 3rd place. In the fancy dress competition, judge Mrs Janice Malcolm, awarded 1st place in the Under 5s to Logan Fenton, 1st place in the under 12's to Molly Wilson while Fiona Wilson scooped the adult prize. Lyndsay McFadden of Provost Veterinary Group presented Pet Show competition winner Ruby Fox Barrie and her dog Cindy with the J T Rodger Cup.
Entertainment
Urban Circus (street performers) kept the children and adults amused throughout the afternoon with stilt walking, unicycle acts, fire eating, juggling and audience participation. They were supported by a host of others including Scotia Wings Motorcycles, Fairground Rides, a Car Boot Sale, Belly Dancers, Vintage Vehicles, Fancy Dress, and a Pet Show.
Not to mention The Early Learning Ceilidh Band, Celtic Moves and Face Painting by Ladybank Youth Club, which all took place inside the marquee.
In the evening the Family night started off with Cobblers the Clown entertaining the youngest members of the community before the Disco took over and everyone danced the night away.
The week was rounded off on Sunday with Under 12's 7 A-Side and Under 16's 5 A-Side football matches, won by Glenrothes Rovers and Cupar Saltires respectively, plus a Ceilidh in the marquee with music provided by Lomond Ceilidh Band. Thanks again to all who participated. And congratulations to all the Ladybank Festive Week winners - see below.
