Ladybank might well have remained 'Lady's Bog' (the name which the monks of Lindores Abbey gave the area when they came to cut peat here.) It's thanks to the railway junction, built when the town developed in the latter part of the 19th century, that it is now called Ladybank  (thankfully, a little more attractive!) The town was designated a burgh in 1878 and developed linen and maltings industries.

Ladybank railway remains a fine example of a largely unaltered piece of 19th century railway architecture Welcome to Ladybank

Our railway station is reckoned to be the oldest unaltered station in Scotland.

Ladybank has an 18-hole, Championship Golf Course, and there are forest walks in the neighbouring Heatherhall Wood
