Ramblers Association: Pitmedden Forest Walk

Join the St Andrews and NE Fife Ramblers Group for an 8 mile walk on forest roads and round Pitcairlie Hill with good views to the Tay and Lomonds. Note: No dogs please. Culross Street Fair

Lots of new craft items for sale as well as the favourites--cushions, handbag charms and greetings cards---something for everyone! Letham & District Flower Show

Come along to th 106th Annual Flower show and Industrial Exhibition, as organised by the Letham & Distruct Horticultural Society. There's a huge range of categories to enter or admire, including vegetables, pot plants, cut flowers, top tray, top vase, fruit, handicrafts, baking, photography, jams and jellies, wine and beer, produce and children's sections. Full schedule of categories are available from committee members or at Bow of Fife Post office, cost £1 (to non-members). The day itself kicks off at 2pm with prize giving and raffle at 4pm. Entry free to members and £1.50 to non-members. Don't miss this historic and entertaining community event. -
Scotland's Garden Scheme: Myres Castle, Auchtermuchty

Scotland’s Gardens Scheme (SGS), a registered charity created in 1931, raises funds for other worthy charities by facilitating the opening of large and small gardens of horticultural interest throughout Scotland to the public. The many privately owned gardens that open for the scheme are its backbone, very few are accessible to the public at other times and they include a wide selection of Scotland's most beautiful properties. This weekend Myres Castle Gardens are open for all to enjoy. They are formal walled gardens laid out in the style of the Vatican gardens in Rome, and they reflect the Fairlie family's papal connections. Basket Making Course

Join us at Monimail Tower on the weekend of 16/17 August and learn how to make a basket in a traditional style. The course is run by Jane Wilkinson, an experienced and talented basket maker. All materials and tools supplied. Take your basket away with you at the end of the weekend. Public Meeting: Recent Flooding in Freuchie

A public meeting to discuss recent flooding in Freuchie will be held at 7.30pm in the Lumsden Memorial Hall on Wednesday 27 August. If you were affected by the flooding or have been affected by flooding in the past, please come along and share your views with us. The meeting to discuss progress and the way forward will be chaired by Patrick Laughlin. Bill Banks, Depute Chief Executive, Kingdom Housing Association has indicated he will be attending the meeting along with 2 other colleagues. Fife Council will be represented by Transportation Services and the Locality Manager, Colin Gilbert. Chief Inspector Davie Brown, Fife Police, has indicated he will attend and can respond to any questions regarding his Force's response to the incident. -

Falkland Estate Paths and Heritage

Join the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust Ranger Service as part of the Fife Outdoor Access Festival for a guided tour around Falkland Estate paths. Have a look at how land uses past and present has shaped this estate. The walk will be split into two sections. For the less mobile come along and enjoy the all abilities trail around the lower part of the estate. Our finishing point will be back at the carpark. For those who prefer a longer hilke come and explore more of the Estate and it's features. The walk will continue on steeper tracks taking in the elevated views over this wonderful estate returning back in time for sunset. Strong footwear required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Falkland to Tyndall Bruce Monument Circular Walk via Maspie Den

Organised as part of Fife Outdoor Access Festival - a walk for the reasonably fit. Includes a 200m ascent. Walking boots recommended. A walk through the picturesque and historic village of Falkland, past Falkland Palace and then into Falkland estate. The walk continues up Maspie Den with its impressive waterfall, which pass you pass under and onto the lower reaches of the Lomond Hills (with a detour to Tyndall Bruce Monument, then return). Walkers should bring a packed lunch, and/or visit the local eating places in Falkland after the walk. Plenty of craft shops for those wishing to do some shopping. £5 per ticket. Suitable for children aged 15 year and over, if fit. Not suitable for dogs. Led by the Fife Ramblers Association -
Yurtfest 2008 (aka The Collesse Music Festival)

For music and atmosphere in Fife, there's no better place than Yurtfest 08. Now in its fourth year, musicians this year include: This The Moonzie Allstars; The Awkward Squad; The Latecomers and Andy Chung plus more. This year's MC will be Milton of Balgonie, "A ranting, raving, spluttering cross between Elvis, Rabbie Burns and the Tasmanian Devil. Experience his poems live... you'll be hooked!" Exploring the Lomonds

Pitmedden Forest Circular Walk

Organised as part of Fife Outdoor Access Festival. A circular walk for the reasonably fit with walking boots seriously recommended. This complete woodland walk includes lovely views over central and west Fife. Across the River Tay and onto Angus and the Grampians. Walkers should bring a packed lunch and camera. Charge: £5.00 per ticket. Suitable for children if fit. Not suitable for dogs. Toilets at the start of the walk. Led by the Fife Ramblers Association
