Walking

The whole of central and north west Fife is dominated by the twin plugs of old volcanoes known locally as ‘the Lomonds'. The Lomond Hills rise to almost 1750ft at West Lomond and 1500ft at East Lomond and roughly divide Fife Region into East and West. With expansive views from both summits (as far as the Borders and the Highlands on a good day), and notable historic features, the Lomond Hills Regional Park provides great walking and recreational opportunities for locals and visitors alike. If a leisurely stroll is more your thing try the Freuchie Historical Trail: a 2.7 mile flat walk for those interested in the history of the village.

Cycling

A healthy, fun and convenient way to circumnavigate the Howe is on a bicycle. Fife has over 300 miles of cycle paths, so there's plenty to choose from! The excellent Kingdom of Fife Millennium Cycleway has several routes which pass through Freuchie. Why not try the circular Ladybank - Auchtermuchty - Falkland route (15.5 miles or 25km, some hills, suitable for older children), or the slightly tougher Freuchie - Chance Inn - Cupar route (22 miles or 35.4kms, on and off road and suitable for adults only.) There are also shorter or longer cycleways to suit - Freuchie to Falkland for example is only 4 miles.

Sport & Health

Want to participate in a team sport?  Check out Freuchie's own Bowling, Cricket and Football clubs, each with action packed events on and off the turf. The Joyce Anderson School of Dancing teaches Highland, National, Theatre & Line Dancing in Freuchie on a Wednesday and in Ladybank and Cupar throughout the week. Or if you prefer a more relaxed approach to health, The Lomond Hills Hotel offers free use of its health club and spa facilities for guests and a variety of value for money memberships for local people.
