Another cracker of an evening is anticipated at the Giffordtown Cabaret. Heading the line-up is Hugh Jones, specialist in the lyrics of American Satirist Tom Lehrer; Pete Shepheard traditional song and ballad signer, and last but not least the Black Cat Jook Band who'll provide ragtime blues and skiffle. Jim McLaren, president of NFU Scotland will be the keynote speaker at a rural discussion in St Andrews next month. Mr McLaren will address Pagan Osborne & CKD Galbraith's annual rural and business seminar before joining a Q&A sesion for what is expected to be a lively debate. Topical issues are likely to include capital gains tax, land prices and agricultural landlord and tenant issues. Places are limited, so please contact Sian Williamson (see below) to reserve a place.
