Education in Freuchie Online

Freuchie primary school has pride of place in the centre of Freuchie and serves the village and the surrounding area.

Pre-school Education

Parents of infants and preschoolers meet regularly during Freuchie Playhour. There's also Stepping Stones Playgroup, more structured play for children aged 2 years and over.

See Scottish Childcare for more on local area childcare, events and activities.

Primary Education

As of Aug 2007 Freuchie Primary school has 109 pupils spread over 5 classes plus 21 children in the nursery. The school has 7 school aims, one of which is to provide a welcoming, safe environment in which pupils, parents and the wider community can work together in a mutually supportive partnership. The school has an Out of School Club which operates locally during the school holidays. There is an active Parent Council which runs events throughout the year and a Pupil Council who raise issues of concern to pupils.

Freuchie primary's main building is Victorian

St Columba's RC Primary serves the Catholic community of Cupar and the Howe.

There are also fee-paying schools in St. Andrews, Perth and Dundee.

University education is provided at nearby St. Andrews (Fife's only university and Scotland' first), Dundee and Abertay (Dundee). Alternatively the Open University of Scotland provides flexible support, tailored to the needs of the individual student and their area of study and is ideally suited to those based rurally.

Lifelong Learning

The Adult Basic Education Service in Fife provides free tuition for adults wanting to improve their basic skills in reading, writing, spelling, arithmetic and basic maths. Alternatively check out the range of courses on offer at your local Howe of Fife Learning Centre or in Freuchie library. Learning doesn't just have to be about formal qualifications, you can develop a personal interest or hobby, learn new skills, brush up on old ones, or just have fun too.
