Match report: Kettle United 1 - 4 Strathmiglo United

From John Schofield, Sunday, 27th April, 2008

Match report by Alastair Jack

The two teams met for the fourth time this season and the result of this Quarter Final of the Scottish Brewers Cup means that Kettle have failed to gain the upperhand in any of the fixtures!

The first chance fell to them but Sampson diverted S.Simpson's effort round the post. Liam Baillie had a header that was just wide and that was just about that as far as scoring opportunities went as both sides battled for midfield supremacy. Then five minutes before the break Strath took the lead. O'Leary provided the cross and Luke volleyed past the helpless Kerridge.

The home team had a busy start to the second period, Thomson headed over,Sampson thwarted B.Simpson and Hampton blasted wide as they looked to level things. Midway through the half Kettle did get the equaliser, Campbell latched on to a McKie through ball and promptly despatched it into the far corner. Strath did not take long to get back in front, five minutes later O'Leary's cross picked out Liam Baillie who nonchalantly stroked the ball past the advancing Kerridge.

In the closing quarter Strath booked their place in the semi final with two fine goals, Darren Baillie slipped the ball to Anderson who scored with a well placed shot, shortly afterwards Kerridge tipped over McIntosh's free kick and from the resultant corner Darren Bailie crossed for Duncan to head home the fourth, and cap another fine team performance from Strath.
