Bloom judges visit Falkland
From Fife Today,
Friday, 22nd August, 2008
The recent heavy rain hasn't dampened the spirits of the green-fingered members of Falkland in Bloom, who are waiting to hear whether they've achieved glory in the prestigious Britain in Bloom awards.
Judges from the Royal Horticultural Society visited the village on Friday, just days after its floral displays received a battering in the heaviest rainfall seen for decades.
However, Falkland in Bloom volunteers remain optimistic that the judges will take a sympathetic view and that they'll scoop an award in the large village category of the UK-wide competition.
Falkland is the only Scots contender in its category and one of only a handful of communities north of the border among the 69 entrants.
Last week, judges also visited Scotlandwell, which is competing in the small village category.
The results will be announced at Chester Racecourse on September 24.
