Open Studios Fife

You are invited to visit up to 32 artists, designers and makers in their studios in the North of Fife (including Auchtermuchty, Dunshelt, Falkland, Collessie, Giffordtown, Ladybank) and discuss methods, inspirations and commissions with them directly. This is the third Open Studios Fife event and we're delighted to include access to more talented artists and makers than ever before. There's outstanding talent on our doorstep, and this opportunity to meet these artists and makers first-hand is a unique way to explore the landscape and the community. FREE 'come and try' activity weekend at Lochore Meadows

Outdoor Education at Lochore Meadows are holding a FREE 'come and try' activity weekend on 3 and 4 May. Activities on offer are: kayaking open canoeing sailing - wayfarer mountain biking Sailing in the City - activities on the water for ages 8 to 14 Session last for 1.5 hours and you can take part in a maximum of 2 activities. Session times are 10am to 11.30am, 11.30am ro 1.30pm, 2pm to 3.30pm, 3.30pm to 5pm. Bluelight Disco @ Elmwood College

Elmwood College, Cupar is hosting its first ever Bluelight Disco Friday 9th May between 7pm - 11pm. The disco has been organised by a partnership between Fife Constabulary, Elmwood, Fife Council, NHS and Bell Baxter High School. Bluelight has been happening in Fife for the past 3 years attracting over 20,000 young people to attend. The aim is to provide a safe environment for young people to have fun. Everyone is breath tested and searched on entry to ensure that the disco is an alcohol free zone. Once inside the disco, information is available in the chill-out area about alcohol. PC Shirley Steele, Schools and Communities Education Officer said of the initiative; “Bluelight has proven to be very popular with young people across Fife. It is important to stress to parents that their son or daughter, in going to a Bluelight Disco, will be in a safe, alcohol free environment”. Tickets costing just £1 are available to buy from Bell Baxter or Elmwood College. Entry is by ticket only but this ticket can also be used to get free bus travel to and from the disco on any Stagecoach service bus. Scotland's Garden Scheme: Falkland Palace Gardens

Come and join a guided walk of Falkland Palace’s picturesque gardens as part of Scotland's Garden Scheme. Garden enthusiasts will appreciate the work of Percy Cane, who designed and cultivated the gardens. There are colourful herbaceous borders, lush green lawns and many unusual shrubs and trees. Walks depart at 1.30pm and 3.30pm. Please reserve your space by calling 0844 493 2186. Falkland Village Hall AGM - Urgent appeal for committee members

If the existing hall committee cannot appeal to more locals to get involved with the running of Falkland Village Hall, then it may have to be handed back to Fife Council. The previous 3 meetings have been cancelled due to lack of support - this AGM is the committee's last chance to recruit fresh ideas and members. If you feel that running the hall locally is important, please get along to the AGM and support this valuable asset! -

The Fife Show

Fife Agriculatural Association present the Fife Show - fun for all the family. This year’s Show includes all the elements of a traditional agricultural show including pedigree and commercial cattle and sheep classes, goats, food marquee, and home produce. There will be classes for pets and dogs (entries taken on the day). There are also over 100 light and heavy horse showing classes and BSJA show jumping, including several Highland Show qualifiers (entries taken on the day). The Show also features a Game Fair, large trade stand section, including agricultural machinery, saddlery, quality Scottish crafts. There will be a children’s activity marquee and a food and cookery marquee. Main ring attractions include: Tractor pulling Vintage Parade Sky diving Falconry Terrier Racing Adults £8, children under 14 – FREE, OAPs £4. For full schedules and entry forms, see website. -

Local Bus Service contracts in East Fife are due for renewal in August 2009. There will be an opportunity for people to Have Their Say on their local bus services by dropping into Victoria Hall, Auchtermuchty - Monday 26 May 2008, 10.00am until 4.00pm. -

Falkland Palace Art Exhibition

Come along and enjoy the end of year exhibit from HND art and design students from Adam Smith College. The exhibition features a range of 2D and 3D works inspired by the palace and gardens. Exhibition runs from 31 May until 17 July.
