  1. North Eden House - Fundraising Ceilidh

    Featuring the Lomond Ceilidh Band and celebrating 25 years of North Eden House, 57 Eden Park, Cupar (residential & day care centre for older people).   2. Seeing Red

    Organised by the Fife Coast & Countryside Trust. Come and join us in the woods of Falkland Estate to look for tracks and signs of our native red squirrel. Event is free but places are limited, so please reserve your place on-line.

  4. Falkland Conservation Group Taster Session

    If you were thinking about volunteering but haven't yet given it a try then come along to this taster session. A workshop on monitoring, recording, practical wildlife management, helping visitors and other projects, will be followed by a walk through Maspie Den and Coalpit Community Woodland Dens to see work, both planned and in progress. Meet iat the Stables Workshop*, Falkland Estate, Phoning or emailing us to let us know that you are coming is recommended. * Big green wooden door at the rear of the Stable Block, next to the car park by the Fish Pond.
  5. Mull Theatre's Macbeth @ Falkland Palace

This is a revival of the final ever show at Mull Little Theatre – an acclaimed, innovative and very accessible production which was loved by critics and audiences alike. Staged against the spectacular backdrop of Falkland Palace, it aims to bring theatre to a wider audience.   8. Restaurant at the End of the World: Christopher Trotter

    Pillars of Hercules occasional restaurant is opening again on Friday nights. Tonight delicious seasonal food will be produced by local chef Christopher Trotter. It's the best of vegetarian food (plus carnivorous option), all organic of course, served up in a congenial atmosphere with live jazz music. Set price menu is £28 per person (£30 for carnivores). 3 courses & coffee. We do not have a table licence but feel free to bring your own alcoholic drinks (no corkage charge).   12. Falkland Society - book launch with Sven Huldt

    The Falkland Society is hosting the launch of Sven Huldt's book 'My Scotland in the Fifties: a Love Story and what led up to it'. Sven Huldt worked during the 50s in the linoleum factory, he had digs in the village and made many friends in Falkland. This will be an open meeting but as space is limited, for a free ticket contact either Pam or Betty.

  17. Celebrating My Garden

    Youngsters are called to be arty. An Art competition for primary schools has been organised at Falkland palace. Pupils are called to entry a painting, drawing, collage or other medium which reflects the gardens that Mary Queen of Scotts would have enjoyed. All entries will be exhibited in the Town Hall on Satruday 25 and Sunday 26 October. Entries must be submitted by 1 October. Entry forms and more infomation is available from Falkland Palace reception or call 08444932186 There are three categories Primary 1-2-3 / 4-5 / 6-7. There will be an individual prize per group and a school prize for best exhibit. Entries to be submitted by 1 October 2008. All entries will be exhibited in Falkland Town Hall. Dates: Saturday 25 October 2008 - Sunday 26 October 2008 Times: 11.00am-4.00pm on Saturday 25th and 1.00pm-4.00pm on Sunday 26th. Exhibition entry is free of charge

  19. Sixth Annual Stewardship Lecture - Food

    Satish Kumar - "Reconnecting with food".“ Sadly, in the modern world most of us know not how to wait, how to fast nor, for that matter, how to feast.” The Sixth Annual Stewardship Lecture at the House of Falkland will be delivered by Satish Kumar, one of the country’s leading humanitarian activists. Satish is editor of Resurgence Magazine, which has been described as ‘the artistic and spiritual voice of the green movement’. He is founder and Director of Schumacher College as well as an internationally acclaimed author and speaker. Satish will deliver a lecture that focuses on our lost links with food and the impact it has on climate change. Tickets cost £25 but as ever we are offering the Friends of Falkland’s Heritage a discounted rate of £20. Organic wine & Fife Diet supper prepared by award winning chef Christopher Trotter.   20. Muddy Boots Halloween Party Nights

    Have a Spooktacular Halloween at Muddy Boots Farm Shop and join in our Halloween Party Nights. Enjoy: a night time train ride (and see where ghosts and ghouls sleep by day and Party by night); the creepy cottage ghost walk; a pumpkin lantern parade; the boo barn; plus test your breath by dookin for apples. Make sure you come dressed to scare - spot prizes for the best dressed. The boo barn will be open during normal hours and/or you can join our party evening starting at 3.30pm to 5.30pm for the under 7's (children £4, adult £2, adults in fancy dress free) and 6pm to 9pm for all ages (children £5.50, adults £4.50, family tickets also available).
