Visitors and residents in Falkland enjoyed all the fun of the fair on Saturday as the village's annual festival drew to a close.

Historic Falkland Palace was the backdrop for the annual medieval street fair, a tradition for over 20 years, which aims to evoke a taste of village life in days gone by. Thankfully the weather was kind, but sadly out of action cash machines in Falkland and Auchtermuchty did nothing to help the sales of stall holders!
The event proved so popular this year that a field to the rear of the palace had to be pressed into service as an overflow car park, and several coachloads of tourists mingled with the locals on the cobbled streets.
Most of the stallholders donned medieval costume for the occasion, selling wares ranging from food to crafts.

Street entertainers, a pipe band and a live jazz band added to the atmosphere of the day, which had begun with the traditional children's parade.
These photos taken by Smart Community Fife, show the crowds enjoying the fair, which is widely regarded as the highlight of the week-long festival.
Congrats to Ian Bell, Fern Westland and Helen Lawrenson, who completed the Smart Community Fife survey at the fair and won whizzy memory sticks for their PCs. Well done guys.
The Falkland Festival committee would like to thank all who participated and supported the many Festival events. See you in 2009!
