The cost of heating and lighting your home or business continues to increase. We also have to reduce our carbon emission quickly. Can local communities do something to help themselves ?
In Falkland Village Hall on Tuesday 28 October at 7:30, there will be a meeting to start finding ways to change our energy use and energy costs. Contributors will be householders from the village and locally, who can explain what they have already done, and how to do it. This will include local examples of simple insulation or draught proofing, underfloor heating and ground-source heat pumps, using wood fuel, installing a windmill, or using solar panels. The really ambitious can work out how to build community sources of electricity or heat, and how to get hold of the grants available to help that.
This is part of the Transition Falkland programme, which will meet of 4 November in Newton of Falkland Village Hall to focus on local food and allotments, and on 11 November in Falkland to discuss improving our local quality of life. FREE
