  1. Cabaret - Giffordtown Hall

    Saturday, 1st March, 2008

    Another cracker of an evening is anticipated at the Giffordtown Cabaret. Heading the line-up is Hugh Jones, specialist in the lyrics of American Satirist Tom Lehrer; Pete Shepheard traditional song and ballad signer, and last but not least the Black Cat Jook Band who'll provide ragtime blues and skiffle. Tickets are £6 from Jan/Doug Wightman. Guests should bring their own refreshments.
  2. Freuchie Bowling Club: Scottish Night

    Join the Macduff Trust to help clear unwanted scrub and maintain our valuable resource. Meet at Newburgh Road car park. Equipment will be provided but you're welcome to provide your own.
  4. Ladybank PTA Coffee morning

    Saturday, 1st March, 2008

    Come along to Ladybank Primary School's PTA organised coffee morning and help celebrate Fair Trade fortnight. There will be fairtrade products on sale at the Glitz & Glam stall, fairtrade products to taste and a raffle. Tickets are £1 per adult, children are free. The highlight of the day will be the launch of the much anticipated celebrity recipe book containing a mixture of recipes donated by both local and international celebrities. An ideal present for Mother's Day on March 2nd. Prices are £4.50 each or 3 for £12.
  5. Scouts Coffee Morning

  9. Rural debate

    Thursday, 6th March, 2008 — Wednesday, 6th February, 2008

    Jim McLaren, president of NFU Scotland will be the keynote speaker at a rural discussion in St Andrews next month. Mr McLaren will address Pagan Osborne & CKD Galbraith's annual rural and business seminar before joining a Q&A sesion for what is expected to be a lively debate. Topical issues are likely to include capital gains tax, land prices and agricultural landlord and tenant issues. Places are limited, so please contact Sian Williamson (see below) to reserve a place.

    FSB in East of Scotland works hard to be the largest and most effective local Business Association representing SME interests. The Fife Branch organises regular events - see webpage for more. At the March meeting there will be the usual networking opportunities, as well as two speakers: Councillor Bill Walker, who will present and discuss the case for the possible reopening of the Longannet Mine, and Deputy Provost, Cllr Liz Mogg, on the current plans for regenerating Dunfermline Town Centre, and other related issues. Local MP, MSPs, and Councillors are invited and members will have the opportunity to speak to them in an informal setting. To book, please see wesbite.   13. Traditional Music Workshops (4)

    The Auchtermuchty Festival Society in partnership with Elmwood College, is holding a series of traditional music workshops in the Auchtermuchty Town Hall (not the Community Centre). Workshops offer tuition in guitar, fiddle, tin whistle, mouth organ and accordian. All adults and children from 8 upwards welcome to attend (an adult must accompany children under 10).

See plays by our own Auchtermuchty Theatre Group (runners-up in this year's Scottish Community Drama Associations Competition in Buckhaven); plus two other entrants, The Orwell Players and the Leslie Amateur Dramatic Group. The Auchtermuchty Theatre Group will perform 'Any Thane Goes', a play written by Nora Brown (who was brought up in Muchty). The Orwell Players will perform 'Come Tomorrow' by Ian Munro and the Leslie Amateur Dramatic Group will show 'Blue Suede Blues' By Dianne Raffle.
