Our location

St. Andrew's High School is a six year comprehensive Catholic High School serving the eastern half of Fife. The school buildings are well maintained and equipped. The school has a strong reputation for the use of technology to support learning and and computers and modern technology are in use in every department.

The school buildings are currently being upgraded: a splendid games hall was opened four years ago; a new building for Social Subjects and Guidance opened in 2004. Work will commence in October 2007 to further extend the school by building a teaching block to house, Art & Design, Music, Computing, Business Education, Religious Education and Home Economic subjects.

As a Catholic comprehensive, we try to foster a caring atmosphere in which tolerance and respect for others are promoted. We seek to ensure that pupils are given every opportunity to achieve their true potential and to participate fully in school life. We try hard to ensure that they are challenged and supported throughout their time in our school. The school also promotes a good range of community events and activities and has a strong link with national and international charities, as well as with uts partner schools in France and Germany.

In St. Andrew's High School, we look carefully at what we teach and the methods we use to present it. We aim to provide a curriculum which allows children of all abilities to learn as effectively as they can and to be involved in their learning wherever possible. Our curriculum meets national guidelines but offers a range of choices. Pupils in S1 and S2 follow a common course. In S1 there is a mixed ability teaching in all subjects and in S2 pupils are set by ability in English, Mathematics and Science. In S3 and S4 we offer up to 8 Standard Grade subjects (or in some cases, National Qualifications at Intermediate 1 or 2) and a full range of Higher Still Courses are available in S5 and S6.

The performance of our pupils in national examinations is very good and analysts have suggested that we get the best out of pupils of different abilities. An HMI inspection of the school, published in 2005 was very positive.

We welcome the interest of parents and are delighted with the support of our active Parent Council.
