Monimail Medieval Fair

Join in a day of medieval themed activities at Monimail Tower. With crafts, stalls, music, games and demonstrations.The Orchard and house will be open and there will be food for sale. Suggested donation £5. -

Flowers of Falkland

In celebration of Percy Cane Gardens at Falkland Palace 60th Anniversary, an event has been organised to enjoy the garden flowers. The event will start with a garden tour, led by the Head Gardener, where visitors will able to learn about Falkland Gardens and flowers. This will be followed by a flower arrangement demonstration & lecture given by Ann Monroe, using flowers from the gardens for her arrangements. The arrangements will be inspired by the garden's history, from 1451 (the date of the first gardens and gardener's records) through 1948 (the creation of the Percy Cane Pleasure Gardens), to the present. Refreshments will be served during the interval. Price: £10 for non-NTS members, £5 for NTS members -

Film Screening: 'The 11th Hour'

Hear the world's leading experts on climate change in Leonardo Dicaprio's passionate plea for action. Sealed Knot Attack on Falkland Palace

There will be a 17th Century battle re-enactment, skarvage, period cooking, and you can learn about period clothing, herbs and their medicinal uses, weapons and battle strategies. The Sealed Knot helps bring history alive every year at period houses throughout the country, and you can talk to major historical figures, try out a few recipes, learn about the life of a soldier on the march and maybe even "take the King's shilling". What better way to teach children about the period than with a little "hands-on" experience. Times: Saturday 20 September 10am-5.00pm, Sunday 21 September 1pm-5pm. Doors Open Day - Monimail Tower

Doors Open Days give you free access to hundreds of fascinating buildings across Scotland. Members of the public are encouraged to come and explore this restored 16th century tower, the main remnant of the medieval palace of the Archbishops of St Andrews. Four storeys high with wide views from the roof. This year there will be local trained guides on site to take you around points of interest in Monimail's historic landscape. Tea and cakes available for sale as well as medieval crafts pottery, metalwork and apple pressing for cider making. Exhibition on history and restoration of the tower. -

Doors Open Days give you free access to hundreds of fascinating buildings across Scotland. This weekend it's your turn to explore places in Collessie that are normally closed to the public. The walk departs from the Village Hall at 2pm, and takes in Melville Tomb, the old post Office, early school building and the oldest thatched cottage in the village. Followed by teas and art courtesey of the Friends of Collessie Church. Come along and make the most of this rare chance to discover the heritage on your doorstep! -

Come along and hear what restorers of this crow stepped 18th century lectern doocot, the Cupar & North Fife Preservation Society, have to say about the doocots history. The doocot is half-way up School Brae on the right. Please park at the foot of School Brae. -

Cylindrical in form with sloping crow-stepped top added when converted from grinding corn to house pigeons.
