  1. Ladybank Forest Users Group: Winter Talk (1)

    The first in the series of Winter Talks begins on Oct 2nd when Tony Wilson of Fife Coast & Counryside Trust will highlight the development of Birnie & Gaddon Lochs at Collessie, from sand and gravel extraction to an award winning environmental and nationally important wildlife site. Everyone is welcome.
  2. North Eden House - Fundraising Ceilidh

    Featuring the Lomond Ceilidh Band and celebrating 25 years of North Eden House, 57 Eden Park, Cupar (residential & day care centre for older people).   3. Newburgh Orchard Group: Apple Market

    Apple Market with locally grown apples, pears and other fruit on sale, plus local home made jams. About 8 varieties of apples will be available, all have been grown in local private orchards. Free admission.

    Watch these graceful creatures display their incredible natural skills. Eagles, falcons, merlins & more. Witness these magnificent birds flying free. Organised by the National trust for Scotland. Standard Falkland Palace admission charges apply.

    Collessie Village hall plays host to another old time dance party with music from Jimmy Shand Junior. Tickets £4 each, available at the door.
  6. Cupar Arts Festival

    A 2 week event including: music (King Creosote & the Fence Collective, Savourna Stevenson, Lau, Rab Noakes, Tam White and more); visual arts (Marian Leve, Will Maclean, selected visual artists); performance poetry; art workshops; craft; scottish dance theatre workshops; open studios; heritage walk; puppet state theatre and more.   7. The Transition Tavern

    The North Howe Transition Toun Group is holding a community pub night in Collessie Village Hall. Come and try local ales and beers brewed in Dunshalt by Luckie Ales and the famous Cairn O'Mhor wines from Perthshire. Live music, pub games and late night DJ. Free entry.
  8. Restaurant at the End of the World: Christopher Trotter

    Friday, 10th October, 2008

    Pillars of Hercules occasional restaurant is opening again on Friday nights. Tonight delicious seasonal food will be produced by local chef Christopher Trotter. It's the best of vegetarian food (plus carnivorous option), all organic of course, served up in a congenial atmosphere with live jazz music. Set price menu is £28 per person (£30 for carnivores). 3 courses & coffee. We do not have a table licence but feel free to bring your own alcoholic drinks (no corkage charge).   16. Sixth Annual Stewardship Lecture - Food

    Satish Kumar - "Reconnecting with food".“ Sadly, in the modern world most of us know not how to wait, how to fast nor, for that matter, how to feast.” The Sixth Annual Stewardship Lecture at the House of Falkland will be delivered by Satish Kumar, one of the country’s leading humanitarian activists. Satish is editor of Resurgence Magazine, which has been described as ‘the artistic and spiritual voice of the green movement’. He is founder and Director of Schumacher College as well as an internationally acclaimed author and speaker. Satish will deliver a lecture that focuses on our lost links with food and the impact it has on climate change. Tickets cost £25 but as ever we are offering the Friends of Falkland’s Heritage a discounted rate of £20. Organic wine & Fife Diet supper prepared by award winning chef Christopher Trotter.
