Giffordtown Hall Committee put on a toothsome spread of cheese and nibbles at last Saturday's Wine and Cheese evening. 

It included an aromatic chunk of gorgonzola, nearly mature enough to ooze off the plate and take its own tour round the hall.   Pity more folk weren't there to enjoy the feast, but those present did their best to do it justice. 

A half dozen present that evening might remember the first Wine and Nibbles event nearly three decades ago, when home-made cloudy rowan and pea-pod wines ran freely, if not wisely,  and a riotous time was had by all.  With age comes wisdom and sobriety. But at least there were few sore heads the next morning, after a pleasant, middle-aged sort of an evening.
