Auchtermuchty Festival 2008

The Auchtermuchty Festival runs from 1st to 10th August, and as always, it's packed with an array of fun community and quality traditional music events. Ramblers Association: Pitmedden Forest Walk

Join the St Andrews and NE Fife Ramblers Group for an 8 mile walk on forest roads and round Pitcairlie Hill with good views to the Tay and Lomonds. Note: No dogs please. Introduction to Slow Food

There are currently eight Slow Food convivia in Scotland (including Aberdeenshire, Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth). With increasing interest in local food, we are now looking at the possibility of setting up a Slow Food Convivium for Fife. We hope that this group will bring together like-minded people, organise events and exchange information about good food and drink in the area. We intend holding a free ‘Introduction to Slow Food' event on Tuesday 5th of August at 7pm at the Fisher and Donaldson's bakery and restaurant at 1 Ceres Road, Cupar, KT15 5JT. The evening will include a chance to sample some of Fisher and Donaldsons finest produce, a talk by Donald Reid (food journalist and Leader of the Edinburgh Slow Food Convivium), and cookery demonstrations and tastings by well-known local chef and author Christopher Trotter. Letham & District Flower Show

Come along to th 106th Annual Flower show and Industrial Exhibition, as organised by the Letham & Distruct Horticultural Society. There's a huge range of categories to enter or admire, including vegetables, pot plants, cut flowers, top tray, top vase, fruit, handicrafts, baking, photography, jams and jellies, wine and beer, produce and children's sections. Full schedule of categories are available from committee members or at Bow of Fife Post office, cost £1 (to non-members). The day itself kicks off at 2pm with prize giving and raffle at 4pm. Entry free to members and £1.50 to non-members. Don't miss this historic and entertaining community event. -
Basket Making Course

Join us at Monimail Tower on the weekend of 16/17 August and learn how to make a basket in a traditional style. The course is run by Jane Wilkinson, an experienced and talented basket maker. All materials and tools supplied. Take your basket away with you at the end of the weekend. Overnight accommodation and other meals can be provided for £12.50. -

Entry £1.00 Adults and 50p Children includes Refreshments. Also an opportunity to visit some of our current resident cats. Apologies to those who came along to Culross, we were rained off!! -
Collessie Duck Race Cancelled

Due to current conditions and the prospect of further heavy rain making conditions worse, the Collessie Duck Race has been cancelled. It shall be re-scheduled for a future date. -

Music for A Summer's Evening

There will be wine and canapes in the Church grounds with all proceeds going to the Bluebell Project / Monimail Church & Creich, Flisk & Kilmany Church. Fife Outdoor Access Festival

Falkland to Tyndall Bruce Monument Circular Walk via Maspie Den

Organised as part of Fife Outdoor Access Festival - a walk for the reasonably fit. Includes a 200m ascent. Walking boots recommended. A walk through the picturesque and historic village of Falkland, past Falkland Palace and then into Falkland estate. The walk continues up Maspie Den with its impressive waterfall, which pass you pass under and onto the lower reaches of the Lomond Hills (with a detour to Tyndall Bruce Monument, then return). Walkers should bring a packed lunch, and/or visit the local eating places in Falkland after the walk. Plenty of craft shops for those wishing to do some shopping. £5 per ticket. Suitable for children aged 15 year and over, if fit. Not suitable for dogs. Led by the Fife Ramblers Association -

Yurtfest 2008 (aka The Collesse Music Festival)

For music and atmosphere in Fife, there's no better place than Yurtfest 08. Now in its fourth year, musicians this year include: This The Moonzie Allstars; The Awkward Squad; The Latecomers and Andy Chung plus more. This year's MC will be Milton of Balgonie, "A ranting, raving, spluttering cross between Elvis, Rabbie Burns and the Tasmanian Devil. Experience his poems live... you'll be hooked!" The campsite will be available all afternoon for people wanting to set up. Music starts at 5pm. All proceeds from the festival will go to CHAS : Children's Hospice Association Scotland -
Letham charity CAR WASH

the teens and kids from the letham park Focus Grup are running a cahrity car wash tomorrow from 1.30 to 3.30pm pproceeds to be split bwteen the Letham park Fund and CHAS. Coffee and homebaking to enjoy whist your car is being washed - so please come along and support. -
