Memorial for Adele Archer: fundraising thanks
From Freddie Duncan,
Wednesday, 4th November, 2009
Last Saturday night's fundraising night at the Auchtermuchty Bowling Club was a great success.
The aim of the event was to raise money for Adele Archer's memorial stone. The organisers would like to thank the people who came along, especially the group from Milnathort Bowling Club, Isabels family, and all the musicians who lent their support to making the night a success, also all the people who gave raffle prizes and donations.
Special thanks go to Rose Straiton who worked so hard to provide the buffet, and also to her helpers, the Auchtermuchty Bowling Club, for providing the venue, and all the other helpers from behind the scenes.
Cairn O Mhor, winery, East Inchmichael, By Errol, Perthshire for their brilliant raffle prize and good wishes, Tesco Ltd, South Road, Cupar, for their kindness in providing a much needed raffle prize.
A big thanks to The Dundee Courier for their article which helped from the beginning to raise awareness of what we are trying to do.
The highlight of the night was when Elspeth, from Rainbow Moon Products at Luthrie, donated lovely raffle prizes, and then later in the night, did a fantastic "Belly Dance" which was appreciated by everyone, ladies and gentlemen alike, and was different from the whole format of the night.
The running total for Adele is now at £1154.50 and we still have bottles out being raffled, which are being drawn this week, and hopefully there will be one or two other things organised shortly, we will keep you posted.
There are still bottles being raffled at three of the session pubs, some are being drawn next week, so we should have a better idea of the overall total by the end of next week.
We are totally overwhelmed at the kind of help and support we got from everyone.
More about Adele
Adele was a local session musician, who died earlier this year, aged 23. Despite being very disabled, Adele won the hearts of everyone she came into contact with. She was unable to speak or walk, due to the Cerebral Palsy, plus other serious conditions. Her vibrant personality and her affectionate ways, together with her beautiful expressive face, said what she was unable to. Adele had a brilliant sense of rhythm and played a small tambourine and was a valued member of Fife's musical community.
