Known as the 'festival for musicians and music lovers', this year's Collessie Music Festival gets underway at Fife Animal Park tomorrow (Saturday).

Although three-years worth of 'seedcorn' funding to get the event up and running has now ended, organisers have confirmed they can raise enough revenue through other funding sources to ensure the weekend-long event in the grounds of Falkland Palace remains a firm fixture on the Scottish festival scene.

The Education and Children's Services Committee today approved the development of a 10 year plan which will set out a programme of work to replace and refurbish Fife schools.

Fifers are being invited to gve their views on proposed core path routes over the next 12 weeks as part of the draft core path plan public consultation process.

While it is not yet known how many employees will take part in next week's industrial action, Fife Council is warning residents of likely disruption to normal services on Wednesday, 20 August, including the possibility of some school closures.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) warned yesterday that the weather forecast for the next few days indicated more rain and possible outbreaks of thunder and lightning on the east coast, with the risk of further flooding.

Due to current conditions and the prospect of further heavy rain making conditions worse, the Collessie Duck Race has been cancelled. It shall be re-scheduled for a future date.
