Local Heroes

Well known to Giffordtownians are the exploits, usually in a musical capacity, of the two Sutherland ‘boys', Gary and Alan.

Gary has continued that noble tradition by winning, for the second time, a first at the Scottish Accordion Championships.  His performance of a march, reel and strathspey at Bill Wilkie's 56th Perth All-Scotland Accordion & Fiddle Festival 28 in Perth last Saturday proved the clincher.

As for Alan, he lays aside his drumsticks for the day job in his employment with Scottish Hydro Contracting, Perth.  Now he's just won the title of 1st. Stage Apprentice of the Year, gaining first place in the national award given by the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust. 

Congratulations to both. Fans of the Gary Sutherland Ceilidh Band can look forward to another musical outing on C.D. in the next month.
