  1. Auchtermuchty Festival 2008

    The Auchtermuchty Festival runs from 1st to 10th August, and as always, it's packed with an array of fun community and quality traditional music events. The theme this year is Welcome to the Sixties' - so be sure to dig out that psychadelic outfit lurking at the back of your parent's wardrobe for the fancy dress competition and the pram race!   2. Falconry, Falkland Palace

    Watch these graceful creatures display their incredible natural skills. Eagles, falcons, merlins & more. Witness these magnificent birds flying free. Organised by the National trust for Scotland. Standard Falkland Palace admission charges apply.
  3. Letham & District Flower Show

    Saturday, 9th August, 2008

    Come along to th 106th Annual Flower show and Industrial Exhibition, as organised by the Letham & Distruct Horticultural Society. There's a huge range of categories to enter or admire, including vegetables, pot plants, cut flowers, top tray, top vase, fruit, handicrafts, baking, photography, jams and jellies, wine and beer, produce and children's sections. Full schedule of categories are available from committee members or at Bow of Fife Post office, cost £1 (to non-members). The day itself kicks off at 2pm with prize giving and raffle at 4pm. Entry free to members and £1.50 to non-members. Don't miss this historic and entertaining community event.
  4. Scotland's Garden Scheme: Myres Castle, Auchtermuchty

    Scotland’s Gardens Scheme (SGS), a registered charity created in 1931, raises funds for other worthy charities by facilitating the opening of large and small gardens of horticultural interest throughout Scotland to the public. The many privately owned gardens that open for the scheme are its backbone, very few are accessible to the public at other times and they include a wide selection of Scotland's most beautiful properties. This weekend Myres Castle Gardens are open for all to enjoy. They are formal walled gardens laid out in the style of the Vatican gardens in Rome, and they reflect the Fairlie family's papal connections. Admission: £5 (including tea). 40% to Rachel House Children's Hospice, Kinross and 60% net to Scotland's Gardens Scheme
  5. Auchtermuchty Pantomime Reading

    Auchtermuchty Theatre Group will be performing Dick Whittington in December. This annual tradition is an excellent opportunity to take part in something fun and educational, plus any profits go to local organisations. If you would like to take part whether it be strutting your stuff on stage or helping back stage, with costumes, props and much more. We pride ourselves on being an open and accepting group, anyone over 9 years old can join in the fun. If you fancy a speaking part or a part in the chorus or want to help behind the scenes, come along to our reading night on Wednesday 13th August in the Upper Town Hall at 7pm. Everyone is welcome. You'll be kicking yourself if you don't take part - Oh Yes You Will!!!
  6. Basket Making Course

    Saturday, 16th August, 2008 — Sunday, 17th August, 2008

    Join us at Monimail Tower on the weekend of 16/17 August and learn how to make a basket in a traditional style. The course is run by Jane Wilkinson, an experienced and talented basket maker. All materials and tools supplied. Take your basket away with you at the end of the weekend. Only 8 places available so please book in advance by contacting Elly on 01337 810420 or by emailing monimail@phonecoop.coop. Cost £65 per place (£15 deposit). Overnight accommodation and other meals can be provided for £12.50.
  7. Collessie Duck Race Cancelled

    Due to current conditions and the prospect of further heavy rain making conditions worse, the Collessie Duck Race has been cancelled. It shall be re-scheduled for a future date.

  9. Old Time Dance - Aug 08

    Collessie Village hall plays host to another old time dance party with music from Jimmy Shand Junior. Tickets £4 each, available at the door.
  10. Music for A Summer's Evening

    Enjoy some light classical music and song in Monimail Church. There will be wine and canapes in the Church grounds with all proceeds going to the Bluebell Project / Monimail Church & Creich, Flisk & Kilmany Church. Music provided by Alevare Duo (Rhiannon Sinclair & Alison Storm) accompanied by Aimee Penman (Soprano) and Nicholas Rees (guitar). Tickets £7.50 (incl wine), children under 12 free.   11. Fife Outdoor Access Festival

    Get involved with Fife's First Outdoor Access Festival which is hosting outdoor events across Fife the weekend on 29 to 31st August. Local activities include: Falkland to Tyndall Bruce Monument Circular Walk via Maspie Den on 30 Aug, Pitmedden Forest Circular, and Exploring the Lomonds on the 31st.   13. Yurtfest 2008 (aka The Collesse Music Festival)

    For music and atmosphere in Fife, there's no better place than Yurtfest 08. Now in its fourth year, musicians this year include: This The Moonzie Allstars; The Awkward Squad; The Latecomers and Andy Chung plus more. This year's MC will be Milton of Balgonie, "A ranting, raving, spluttering cross between Elvis, Rabbie Burns and the Tasmanian Devil. Experience his poems live... you'll be hooked!" The Scotsman Tickets are £10 and can be booked using on-line form. The website http://www.yurtfest.co.uk/index.htm also has more info on the line-up and running order. £5 charge per tent for camping. The campsite will be available all afternoon for people wanting to set up. Music starts at 5pm. All proceeds from the festival will go to CHAS : Children's Hospice Association Scotland
