Creative flower painting workshops with Kirsty Lorenz

Kirsty Lorenz: Holbein Rose paintingKirsty has recently begun running small painting workshops that offer groups and individuals with a range of experience, the chance to learn from the reputed flower painter in her bright, unusual and inspiring studio rooms on Platform 2, Ladybank Railway Station.  

Kirsty shares her inspirations from Art History, her skill and enthusiasm for portraying flowers, their different characters and structures.

Working from a wonderful array of live flowers and the artist's extensive collection of photographs, participants explore the potential of acrylic paints, colour theory, the use of line, form, scale and composition. 

High quality materials are supplied ensuring the best possible results, in particular beautiful swiss made Lascaux Sirius Acrylic paints. They are a very pure quality pigmented acrylic paint that allows for a fantastic resonant range of colour mixing. Also supplied are papers, canvas boards, pencils, charcoals, pastels, inks etc.

Participants are encouraged to experiment and take new skills and knowledge away with them. Workshops are structured to support the development of both beginners and more experienced painters.   further dates in May, June and July. Kirsty has wide experience of delivering workshops, including for the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh. She studied art at Goldsmiths College London till 1992 and exhibits widely in the UK, USA and Ireland.
