As the year wears on into late summer things are starting to change around the lochs. Birds seem scarcer as they hide themselves away for their annual moult. The big colonies of gulls and rooks are finished breeding and so have gone quiet. The sound of bird song has dwindled as the exhausted parents feed themselves up after their exertions.
