Attractions
Whilst many visitors to Auchtermuchty & Dunshalt come to enjoy the recreational pursuits of walking and cycling, many come to the area for the ever popular Auchtermuchty Festival, an event that has been bringing folk musicians, singers and music fans from around the Scotland to the town, during August, for over 25 years.

Eating and drinking
Whilst there are no cafes or bars in Dunshalt, there are several eating out options available in Auchtermuchty. For a light snack try Taste Cafe and Takeaway in the Auchtermuchty Community Centre or The Tannochbrae Tearoom in the High Street. Once used in the filming of TV series Dr Findlay in the mid 1990s, the Tannochbrae continues to reflect the spirit of the 1950s in its decor and memorabilia. The Cycle Tavern offers daily bar lunches and bar suppers at the weekend whilst the Forest Hills Hotel has a public bar, a lounge bar, tea room and restaurant.

Auchtermuchty also has a selection of grocer shops including David Sands, Burnside Stores and N Valente (also a chip shop & take-away).
Shops & Services
Fletchers of Auchtermuchty started the first deer farm in Europe over 30 years ago. Today they offer seriously good (i.e. award winning) venison. It's available to purchase via phone, on-line from their website, or from local farmer's markets, but if you're in the area don't miss a visit to their Reediehill farm shop.
Auchtermuchty & Dunshalt are home to a number of artists and offer great shopping for those interested in picking up unique arts and crafts. Local artists include Alison Strachan, Frank Michael, Jim Shears, Victoria Schriver-Anderson, Lorraine Mae McKendrick, Jenni Gudgeon and Lucy Moose Bags.

There is a Bank of Scotland cash point (on Burnside).
Transport
If you're planning to travel in the Howe using public transport Traveline makes it easy.
By car: Auchtermuchty is most easily reached by road, and is just off the A91 Cupar road. Dunshalt is 1 mile south of Auchtermuchty on the B936. Muchty taxis can help you get there. Or for special occasions try Baincraig Cars.
By rail: Auchtermuchty is approx 6 miles from Ladybank railway station and approx 8 miles from Markinch railway station. For further information & booking see Scotrail, Trainline, or National Rail Enquiries, tel: 0345 484950.
By Bus: Stagecoach operates several local bus services to and from Auchtermuchty and Dunshalt from Glenrothes, Cupar, Perth and further afield. For timetable info call Travel Line on 0871 200 22 33.
If are interested in car sharing, reducing petrol costs and helping the environment Tripshare can help. Lots of NE Fifers are regsitered now, making it a viable option for Howe residents to travel to work, or simply get around.
