Big Tent Festival 2008

The Big Tent is a weekend of celebrations, music, art and creativity which champions the work of the environmental movement and those concerned with the conservation of the living world. A rich and diverse cast of artisans, musicians and performers from all over the world will perform against the beautiful backdrop of Falkland Palace, transforming the normal tranquil, historic Fife village of Falkland into a riot of colour and activity. Headline music acts include King Creosote and the Fence Collective and the Peatbog Faeries. A campsite is added this year as well as a Food Village featuring local and organic. There will also be zones featuring environmental lifestyle, renewable energy, holistic therapies and treatments as well as a fantastic children's area. All this plus a dynamic programme of debates featuring the very best in 'Big Green Thinking' and contributions from writers, scientists, academics and inspiring individuals involved in safeguarding the future of Planet Earth. Fife Farmers Market - Cupar

Cupar Farmers’ Market is held on the Third Saturday of every month. Likely producers include Iain Spink (Traditional Smokies From Arbroath), Puddledub Buffalo and Pork, Bellfield Organic Nursery, Caurnie Soap Co, Gartmorn Farm Poultry, Fletchers of Auchtermuchty and Hilton Wild Boar. Auchtermuchty Festival Sponsored Walk

Do you enjoy the festival trip to M&D's? Do you want the price of the tickets lowered? Then why not help us raise money by putting your best foot forward (a couple of hundred times!) To keep the prices down we are looking for youngsters of all ages to take part in our sponsored walk on Thursday 17th July. There will be three routes ranging from 2 miles to 12 miles around Muchty and Strath. We need all the help we can get, and the more money you raise the cheaper the tickets will be. For ay younger children who want to take part in the short walk, transport can be arranged to bring them home again. There will be a short meeting at The Cross on Sunday 22nd June at noon, for more information and a sponsor sheet so hop-foot it there. After the walk there will be refreshments available - no doubt Walkers crisps! -

Muchty Common Action Day

An action day will be held on Saturday 5th July on the Whitefield of the Common. It is the ideal time to tackle the willow herd and ragwort which are encroaching into the grassland so many hands are required. Tools and gloves will be provided. Apart from some fresh air, good company there will be an ample supply of home baking, tea and coffee. Stop at the car park on the Newburgh Road or wander up from the village via Bondgate. Please come along and lend a hand. -
Transition Towns Talk - Cupar

The North Howe Transition Toun group are hosting a talk on how local people can work together to promote sustainable ways of living, in the Cupar Farm Shop on July 2nd. Eva Schofield of Transition Scoland Support will lead the discussion, which will consdier the peak of global oil production, the seriousness of climate change and what local communities can do to make a difference. Come along to find out why Transition Touns are needed and how they can be created.
