Muchty concert in memory of Citty 20 Sep 08

From Fife Today, Friday, 12th September, 2008

An evening of traditional music and song is to be held in Auchtermuchty on Saturday, September 20, in memory of Citty Finlayson, one of the town's best-known residents. The concert, which aims to raise money for Cancerbackup/Macmillan Cancer Support, has been organised by Citty's friend Dougie Mackenzie, from Inverness.

It's one of a series of six concerts Dougie is organising as part of a 300-mile cycle ride round Scotland.

The event will take place in the Victoria Hall and will feature a line-up of favourite folk artistes including Sheila Stewart, Siobhan Miller, Brian Miller, Jimmy Hutchison, Aileen Carr and Clatto Junction.

Citty, a traditional music enthusiast, died three years ago at the age of 54, and since then a concert has been held in her memory as part of the annual Auchtermuchty Festival.

Dougie said: "Citty was a great ambassador for traditional music and a fundraiser and supporter of Cancerbackup, both of which played a big part in her wonderful fight against cancer which she sadly lost in 2005. This is for Citty and all those we have lost too soon."

Tickets for the concert are available from the Keystore at Burnside, Auchtermuchty, or by calling 01337 860482.
